The PHC took a break to allow our fighters to heal following the first two events. January saw the return of some of our talent who didn't fare so well in the first 2 events for a trial run under the new rules as outlined by the Management. (Version 2 of the official rules :P ) We also signed Tito Ortiz (yawn) for the total cost of a free ticket to the show and a peanut.

Round 2:

And another exciting event took place, we had none other than the President of the UFC step into the Full Impact MMA Cage, along with 7 other new faces to the organization. The PHC is reaching new heights as we now have signed over 20 fighters!

Openweight Competition, 8-Man Elimination Challenge

-'the Prodigy' BJ Penn
-Dana 'the President' White
-Frank Shamrock
-Jason 'the Athelete' MacDonald
-Jens 'Lil Evil' Pulver
-Mark 'the Hammer' Coleman
-Michael 'the Count' Bisping
-Royce Gracie

Round 1:
Jason MacDonald vs Jens Pulver
Pulver defeats MacDonald in a decision. (28-27)
Frank Shamrock vs Royce Gracie
Gracie defeats Shamrock by TKO at 02:48 of round 3. (Gracie suffers a partial muscle tear halfway through the 2nd round, he continues fighting though and in the dying seconds of round 3 wins by TKO over Shamrock when Shamrock suffers a nasty cut during a takedown to an Armbar! Gracie cant continue and an alternate is brought in)
Dana White vs Mark Coleman
Coleman defeats White by KO with Repeated knees to the Head at 00:16 of round 1. Sorry Dana, the dice don't lie..and yes thats 16 seconds into the round!
BJ Penn vs Michael Bisping
Bisping defeats Penn by TapOut with a Sidechoke at 00:32 of round 1.

Round 2:
Jens Pulver vs Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson (alternate for the injured Gracie)
Pulver defeats Jackson by TKO at 02:16 of round 1. (Jackson was destroying Pulver but suffered a severe shoulder dislocation during a takedown and could not continue)
Mark Coleman vs Michael Bisping
Coleman defeats Bisping by TKO at 02:00 of round 1. (Coleman slammed Bisping to the ground then delivered several knees to his head, picked him up and slammed him down again. The Ref stopped the fight as Bisping could not defend himself. Bisping was less than impressed claiming he was still fighting; the crowd agreed with him feeling it was stopped prematurely)

Round 3: Final
Jens Pulver vs Mark Coleman
Coleman defeats Pulver by KO with Repeated Knees to the Head at 02:32 of round 1.

A hell of an event, Coleman dominated everyone he fought. Coleman also smashed the record with his first round KO at 16 seconds! (Previous record was 00:48 of the first round held by Cheick Kongo from last October!)

Swick comes back strong to take the second round, keeping ahead of Lesnar with his speed. The third round saw Swick punishing Lesnar with knee strike after knee strike. Lesnar holds his own and doesn't back away with the round ending in a draw. Being the finals, a 4th round was called for where Swick continued to punish Lesnar's ribs with knee strikes. Lesnar looks gassed but keeps absorbing the shots. At 04:00 of the round, Swick grabs hold of Lesnar's neck and launches himself upward blasting Lesnar with a full on knee strike to the face. Lesnar is KO'd and Swick wins the Tournament!

Total domination from both fighters, one had to lose. Congrats go to Swick on his first PHC Tournament Win!

Our first non-Openweight competition! We had to include one fighter randomly as we were at 7 healthy competitors so we drew Herring out of a hat.

Light/Welterweight Competition, 8-Man Elimination Challenge

-BJ 'the Prodigy' Penn
-Frank 'Twinkle Toes' Trigg
-Georges 'Rush' St.Pierre
-Hayato 'Mach' Sakurai
-Heath 'Texas Crazy Horse' Herring
-Marcus 'the Irish Hand Grenade' Davis
-Matt Hughes
-Sean 'the Muscle Shark' Sherk

Round 1:
Marcus Davis vs Heath Herring
Herring takes the first round 10-9, Davis takes the second 10-9. The third round is close, until Davis drops Herring with a Trip Takedown. Herring lands on his head and gets KO'd by the fall. Davis wins by KO at 04:22 of Round 3.
Hayato Sakurai vs Sean Sherk
Sakurai wins by decision (29-28).
Georges St.Pierre vs Matt Hughes
St.Pierre defeats Hughes by KO with a Roundhouse to the Head at 02:42 of Round 1.
BJ Penn vs Frank Trigg
Penn defeats Trigg by TO with a Rear Naked Choke at 00:36 of Round 3.

Round 2:
Marcus Davis vs Sean Sherk
Davis is DQ'd for a Cheap Shot at 03:00 of Round 1.
Georges St.Pierre vs BJ Penn
Penn defeats St.Pierre by TO with a Reverse Mounted Triangle at 02:30 of Round 2.

Round 3: Final
Sean Sherk vs BJ Penn
Penn comes out with a Flying Armbar, his foot glancing off Sherk's face and tearing a gash across his cheek. Sherk is bleeding profusely and the ref gets the doctor to assess the cut. Sherk says yes, the doc says no. Penn wins the fight by TKO and Sherk continues to bleed all over the octagon.

BJ Penn wins this month's event, what a technical fighter! Action is always present when BJ is in the octagon!

Openweight Competition, 8-Man Elimination Challenge

-Evan Tanner
-Fedor Emelianenko
-Matt Hughes
-Phil Baroni
-Rich Franklin
-Sean Sherk
-Tank Abbott
-Wanderlei Silva

Round 1:
Tank Abbott vs Matt Hughes
Hughes is rocked in the early seconds and can't recover; Abbott wins by TKO at 02:10 of Round 1.
Rich Franklin vs Evan Tanner
In a bloody brawl, Franklin takes Round 1 10-9. At 00:54 of Round 2, these warriors collide heavily and both are knocked out, ending in a draw! An alternate will be brought in as neither is able to continue.
Fedor Emelianenko vs Sean Sherk
Sherk is on top of his game and gets an early lead. By 01:42 of the first round, the Ref had seen enough and calls it a TKO in favor of the Muscle Shark.
Phil Baroni vs Wanderlei Silva
Back and forth action sees Baroni take Round 1 with a 10-9 and Silva take Round 2 with a 10-9. Through Round 3, Baroni fires up the afterburners and decimates Silva, the ref calls it a TKO at 02:42 of Round 3!

Round 2:
Tank Abbott vs Keith Jardine
At 02:06 into Round 1, Jardine splits his shin wide open on an errant kick that connected with Tank's knee. It's a TKO victory for Abbott!
Sean Sherk vs Phil Baroni
Sherk is flying high after his first win and blatantly spits in Baroni's face. He's promptly deducted a point and Baroni comes on, winning the Round 10-8. In Round 2, at 01:22, Baroni loses his cool and spits back in Sherk's face, and is deducted a point as well. The points don't matter though as at 02:08, Sherk catches Baroni in a key lock, and torques too hard, fracturing his own wrist!

Round 3: Final
Tank Abbott vs Phil Baroni
Baroni taikes Round 1 and Round 2 with 10-9 victories, so Abbott has to go hard in Round 3. Looking for an edge, Abbott hits Baroni a touch low and gets called for the cheap shot, losing a much needed point. He does take the Round, but only gets a 9-9; the Match goes to Baroni (29-27).

Baroni took some spit in the eyes and a a punch in the junk but managed to pull through and win himself some distinction! Congrats Phil!

Openweight Competition, 8-Man Elimination Challenge

-B.J. Penn
-Forrest Griffin
-Georges St.Pierre
-Houston Alexander
-Jason MacDonald
-Michael Bisping
-Rich Franklin
-Sean Sherk

Round 1:
Houston Alexander vs Michael Bisping
Bisping eats a Straight Right that ends his night with a KO at 02:42 of Round 1.
Geaorges St.Pierre vs Jason MacDonald
The Canadians square off and neither backs down. At 01:30 of Round 1, St.Pierre kicks high and slips; he lands hard and is dazed just long enough for MacDonald to get the mount and definitively knock him out with a cascade of punches.
BJ Penn vs Rich Franklin
Franklin is defeated at 01:12 of Round 2 by TapOut to a Mounted Triangle Choke.
Forrest Griffin vs Sean Sherk
The ref gets jumpy and declares it a TKO in one of the worst calls in PHC history. Sherk advances.

Round 2:
Houston Alexander vs Jason MacDonald
This one was too close to call for the average Joe, but the judges were able to give Round 1 and Round 2 to MacDonald; 10-9 each. Round 3 was another close one, given to Alexander 10-9. MacDonald moves on, 29-28.
Sean Sherk vs BJ Penn
Penn comes out cautiously and lets Sherk make the first mistake, capitalizing and catching him in a Reverse Mounted Triangle for the TapOut at 00:42 of Round 1!

Round 3: Final
Jason MacDonald vs BJ Penn
MacDonald barely takes Round 1 with a 10-9; Penn would have won Round 2 but was deducted a point in the last seconds for unsportsmanlike conduct (slapping MacDonald after the bell) so only gets a 9-9. At 01:55 of Round 3, MacDonald claims the win with a Roundhouse kick that surprised everyone, escpecially Penn!

Jason MacDonald! Your time is NOW! Congrats on the victory!
