Building Fighters

Typically I visit Sherdog for profiles on professional fighters. You can find complete listings of their records, fight index, personal stats and pictures galore.

-I'll typically scroll through the fight index and take a look at how the fights ended. If there's one or two dominating ways that the guy wins, I'll pick the best one for his Signature. If I'm more familiar with the fighter and know his style and techniques, I'll just fill it in from what I've seen.
-If a Fighter has a reputation for dirty fighting, I'll be sure to put the 'Cheap Shot' a little higher up on the scale...Same with the injury on the Impact Charts.

There are numerous lists of moves available on the internet. There is also a Moves Encyclopedia in the works to match the B'N'G Encyclopedia which will make choosing moves a lot easier for people who are less familiar with them. Of course that's up to CheopisIV to get out to you, so bug him for it with multiple PMs and Emails.

My question is this, how do you really estimate the upgrades of skill that an accomplished fighter would have? In a normal rpg, one could estimate "stats" based on the mean or average, but here, you're trying to simulate a chart result that has to represent a specific bonus in skill.

Just curious, as I'm new to the system. I notice the bootlegs on here really aren't updated to the Hardcore rules either.

For the basic guys, I didn't allot any points. They're just straight from the fighter creation sections. For the Legends, I just added some extras based on what I saw of them in the past. I think if I was to redo them, I'd just allot points based on their W/L as listed on Sherdog. I haven't updated them for the Hardcore Rules, but it wouldn't take much to add the POS rolls. The Cheap Shot and Injury charts are just a straight up change from the wording system to the letter system too. Maybe some day soon I'll go through and update them all.
